E Co's mission is to work with our clients to assess "markets", formulate appropriate strategies, projects and programmes, with long-term positive sustainable impacts in the energy and climate change sector, that can be effectively implemented.
Core values define the should's (and should not’s) that govern the company's underlying decisions and reflect the culture of the way we do business. Putting the core values to work in each and everything we do within the company is the task of each one of us in our day-to-day business dealings with each other, with contractors and with customers.
Our core values are:
- We aim to wow our customers, co-workers, contractors and partners. To WOW someone we connect with them at both a practical and emotional level by doing something exceptionally and in a distinctively different way from business as usual. Naturally we aim to deliver great project / programme designs, reliably, but we seek to be different in all the little things that go into great project designs, and this set us apart from others. We don't aim to be average, or pretty good, but to understand and anticipate the needs of our clients in such a way that they are 'wowed'. Clearly we have a job to do, and we need to deliver what the clients wants, when they want it, but we look for the way to make the service 'a little bit clearer’, easier to use, or 'well-thought-out' than was expected. Every employee tries to 'deliver wow' in what they do.
- We listen, empathise, and are open and honest. We make the effort to listen carefully to customers, co-workers, contractors and partners, and try to understand the issues they are dealing with from their point of view. We spend a lot more time listening and learning, so that when we speak or write, what we say or produce meets people's needs. Empathy may be expressed in simple attitudes and approaches, like the use of 'we' and 'our' not 'you' and 'your' when discussing assignments and strategies.
- We continuously aim to get better, do things more efficiently, find simpler ways to do things, and learn from past experiences. We don’t just do our business well, but we are constantly looking for small (or not so small) improvements we can make to do it better. We don’t overcomplicate things, but try to keep them as simple as they can be. We use tools and processes to make complex things easier and quicker to do, giving us more time to concentrate on the ‘little things that make all the difference’.
- We are persistent, determined and passionate about what we do. We’re enthusiastic to understand what really makes things and people tick, and are prepared to take the time to get to the bottom of things. We are passionate in the work we do, and want our project designs to result in great projects.
- We do great things, excellently. The projects or programmes we design try to make the world a better place, to protect the environment, and improve people’s quality of life. We don’t just do what we do to make money; we also want to make a positive difference to the world. The right way to do good things, of course, is excellently. There is no room for shoddy work in our efforts to do what is right.
- Our short-term decisions are guided by their long-term impacts. We don't just aim to design projects or do good things with short term benefits, but we want to design projects and programmes that work excellently and deliver long-term sustainable benefits.
